I just got the Canon 50mm f/1.8, and it's pretty amazing. Great lens for a awesome price. I should have gotten this lens a long time ago, the bokeh is just amazing at f/1.8. About 90% of the time it takes pictures as good as my IS lens. Anyways, I've just been playing around with it lately and hope to do some portraits soon.
I also bought a polaroid sx-70 for 5 bucks! Now if I could just find some time zero film at a decent price! This discontinuation of time zero is really killing us photographers!

If you know of anywhere that has it cheap let me know!!
As for personal news, I'm still busy with work...it's pretty much my first FULL time job and I'm still trying to get used to it. Plus, I'm trying to get into school and what not. This is going to be a busy next couple of weeks.
Anyways, please enjoy the 100D features below and show the artists some love!

I broke my point-and-shoot a couple of months back and really want to get a new camera before I go off to University in September.
I'm looking to get a more advanced camera for a half decent price. Any suggestions?

For point and shoot I'd go with a Nikon P80 it has 10MP and it's less than $400. Or the Nikon P5100 which is about the same price with 12MP.
Or if you really want an SLR, and it's in your price range a good deal would be a canon rebel xt, like mine. It's really good for learning. It's about $600 with the kit lens [which I don't care for too much] or you can by the xt body only and buy a lens of your choice for about the same price. Or another good slr is the nikon d40.
Anyways, I hope that wasn't too confusing. Just ask if I wasn't clear enough, hehe.

I think an SLR's what I'm thinking about going for.
My friend was going to sell me an old rebel for really really cheap but she bailed on me because she doesn't have enough cash to get her a new one, which really sucks.
So you're recomending the rebel or the nikon d40? If I were to go for the rebel do you suggest getting the lens kit or just getting the one extra lens?
